- What's On
As both the principal and a passionate alumni of Clontarf Beach SHS, I believe in the power of high expectations to inspire students to reach their full potential. I’ve seen firsthand how pride, passion, and clear pathways can transform a student’s journey. I work to instil these values in the next generation, encouraging them to take pride in their accomplishments, pursue their passions with vigour, and set purposeful goals that guide them toward success. By fostering an environment of support and challenge, I hope to empower students to believe in themselves and build the confidence they need to achieve their dreams.
What truly sets our school apart is the sense of community we share. Students, teachers, and staff have come together in support of each other, whether it’s celebrating a student’s personal achievement or coming together for school-wide events. The positive energy is infectious, creating a school where every individual feels valued and supported. This sense of community has made term 1 a very enjoyable start to our school year.
Despite the challenging weather conditions this term, we’ve seen a remarkable improvement in student attendance. Even with unpredictable cyclone our students have shown great resilience and commitment to their education. Parents and guardians have worked closely with the school to ensure students arrive on time, while teachers have been flexible and understanding. This dedication has not only kept our classrooms full but also contributed to a positive and consistent learning environment. We are proud of everyone’s efforts to prioritize their education, no matter the weather!
As we prepare for the upcoming term, let’s take a moment to celebrate our successes and be proud of the hard work we’ve put in. The first term may be over, but the journey continues. Let’s keep the momentum going, remain committed to our goals, and support one another as we move forward into a new term full of possibilities.
Here’s to another term of learning, growing, and achieving together!

More news from the Clontarf Beach SHS Welding Club. Brendan McCallum in Year 10 has worked through all of the MIG welding introductory welding tasks and has just completed his first welding club project, a D6 (standard six sided) dice. For this, he used the bandsaw and coldsaw to cut 50x3 mild steel to length; then, using a jig, tack welded these in place. All the welds were “external corner” welds, which he ground to a uniform chamfer. He then drilled the holes in the faces and powder coated.
Sasha & Brendan continue to lead the way in the welding club, having already completed their D6 (standard six sided) dice.
They have now completed their D4 dice, and are well into their D8 dice. These are cut from 50x3 mild steel flat bar, drilled, MIG welded, ground and powder coated. 3mm ply is laser cut for the number inserts.

Well done to them both.

Well, it has been a busy term in the Arts department, with heaps of creativity and busyness happening.
The musical rehearsals are going well, and there is a real buzz around the school about the upcoming shows in June. Students have been learning their lines, and songs, learning dances and just learning about what it takes to put on a show, which many of them have never done before. The tech crew and backstage crew have also started coming to rehearsals to get their job done. This really is a whole school musical with students and staff from all areas of the school putting their hands up to help and take part. We can’t wait for you to come and see the action in June.
As usual the dance department has a lot happening, with eisteddfod season coming up and their involvement in the musical. We have welcomed Tatum Marshall to our department this year, teaching dance. She has been a welcome addition to our growing department, and students are loving her choreography. Dance students and teachers have been so commited this term, attending weekend rehearsals and other rehearsals twice a week. We wish them luck at the Sunshine Coast Eisteddfod, the first eisteddfod of the season.
Our music department is growing, and we are so excited to see this. Our instrumental music teachers are at capacity with many students wanting to learn an instrument for the first time. It is so pleasing to see a student pick up an instrument for the first time – a whole new world opens up for them. Mr Dan Teh is taking the Year 7 excellence class this year and they have been busy creating and performing music. They have a lot of energy and there is a definite buzz in the classroom as students start their high school music journey.
There have been some changes in our drama subjects with Year 7 and 8 students being able to study drama for a whole term. This has been very beneficial for our students as we can now delve deeper into learning all about creating, performing, and responding to drama. The senior classes are now deep into assessment pieces and it is always fantastic to see what these talented students create.
Visual art continues to shine and we have seen a definite growth this year in all year levels. Senior students have an upcoming excursion to both the galleries in the Brisbane city and our local Redcliffe gallery and I’m sure they will learn so much from this experience. Thank you to the art teachers for organising these opportunities for our students. Student art works are on rotational display in our library and main office.
If you have any questions about our arts subjects, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Consent Management Via QParents
From Term 2 this will be the only way permission can be given for your student to attend excursions and other school events.
This will also significantly reduce the amount of printing and paper in use across the school and mean no more paper permission notes for parents to find, sign and return.
If you have not yet downloaded the QParents App or you need assistance in doing so, please contact the school office for support.
The module is compliant with Department of Education requirements, easy to manage for teachers and school administration and convenient to use for parents.
To ensure that you are ready for this change please ensure that you have access to the QParents App.
