More news from the Clontarf Beach SHS Welding Club. Brendan McCallum in Year 10 has worked through all of the MIG welding introductory welding tasks and has just completed his first welding club project, a D6 (standard six sided) dice. For this, he used the bandsaw and coldsaw to cut 50x3 mild steel to length; then, using a jig, tack welded these in place. All the welds were “external corner” welds, which he ground to a uniform chamfer. He then drilled the holes in the faces and powder coated.

Sasha & Brendan continue to lead the way in the welding club, having already completed their D6 (standard six sided) dice.

They have now completed their D4 dice, and are well into their D8 dice. These are cut from 50x3 mild steel flat bar, drilled, MIG welded, ground and powder coated. 3mm ply is laser cut for the number inserts.
