Sports Tour Updates 2025
Day 1 on tour!
On Sunday 10th August we began our journey with a stop in Childers to explore the town and enjoy some lunch. Our next destination was the Alexandra Park Zoo, where we saw emus, dingoes, snakes, lizards, monkeys, and more. We then arrived at Kepnock State High School, set up our sleeping quarters, and finished the evening with some lively drama games.
Day 2 on tour!
From morning PT to breakfast, we were fuelled up and ready for a huge day at Kepnock State High. Our students threw themselves into basketball, volleyball, football, ultimate disc, netball, touch footy, and OzTag. Massive thanks to Kepnock for hosting us — what an epic day of sport and teamwork!
Day 3 on tour!
We kicked off the morning with some fun team challenges to get the bodies moving before saying goodbye to Kepnock and heading to Gin Gin. There, we toured their impressive agricultural setup with guidance from their senior Ag students.
We were lucky to experience some amazing traditional Indigenous practices — fire making, spear throwing, and boomerang throwing. A huge shoutout to Team Clontarf for making history — the first successful student fire in 3 years!
The afternoon was filled with games of touch football, volleyball, basketball, and ultimate disc. Our students couldn’t stop talking about how friendly and welcoming the Gin Gin crew were. Thanks for having us — we had an awesome time!
Day 4
Saw us in Kingaroy for a big day of sport — touch football, volleyball, netball, and a modified game of softball. The competitive spirit was high and the fun even higher! We then made our way to Chinchilla, where a familiar face, Mr Murphy, welcomed us to his new school, Chinchilla SHS. Excited for another day of activities with their students tomorrow!
Day 5
Chinchilla - Another jam-packed day on tour! Students got involved in mixed netball, modified games and touch football before heading into town to explore the Chinchilla town centre. In the afternoon we joined in some community volleyball in the school hall, then wrapped up the night with trivia and watching the Storm v Panthers golden point thriller on the projector.
Day 6
Dalby - We wrapped up our tour with a gala day at Dalby SHS, making the most of the local PCYC fields. Students got stuck into basketball, netball, volleyball, TRL and soccer – an awesome way to finish the week! Huge thanks to Dalby SHS for once again hosting us and putting on a fantastic day
