Year 8 Geography in Action

Year 8 Geography in Action at Clontarf State High School

Our Year 8 students are currently exploring tectonic plates, earthquakes, and volcanoes in Geography. With recent seismic activity and volcanic news from around the Pacific "Ring of Fire", our learners are beginning to see how their studies connect directly to real-world events.

From understanding how tectonic plate boundaries cause earthquakes to identifying volcanoes that shape entire landscapes, students are making meaningful links between theory and current global changes. It’s a powerful reminder that Geography is more than just maps—it’s about understanding the forces that shape our world. The Grade 8X History class have made volcanoes and watched them erupt in a practical display andcreated buildings that exhibit earthquake construction improvements.

These timely world events are bringing the curriculum to life, sparking curiosity, critical thinking, and global awareness in the classroom.
