In Year 10 Health this term, we have been discussing the Dimensions of Health – Physical, Emotional, Social, Spiritual and Mental.

We have looked at each dimension in details as well as ways to advance them.

One of the things we did for our physical health, was to put on our special goggles which enables the person to ‘see’ through the lens of someone who is under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Students were given challenges to achieve (such as catching a ball, doing up shoelaces, walking up / down stairs) whilst wearing the goggles. It made for a very funny but eye-opening lesson.

We have also focused on GEM which stands for Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness. Students have been reflecting on what they are grateful for each day and how they can put themselves in someone else’s shoes.

Finally, to be mindful, we have undergone a couple of very relaxing, guided meditations. We may or may not have had someone fall asleep…..
